G. Sequane Lawrence is Co-Founder and Co-Designer of Fathers, Families and Healthy Communities and currently serves as the organization’s President. Sequane is a community economic development, workforce development, and youth development practitioner and has served as executive director, program director and manager of community-based institutions and city and state departments.
He is a Chicago Community Trust 2011 Fellow with a fellowship focused on the efficacy of worker owned cooperatives as an entrepreneurial and workforce development model for low income people. Sequane recently traveled to Mondragon, in the Basque Region of Spain, to study first-hand the historic Mondragon Cooperatives Corporation and Morocco in East Africa to observe women-led cooperatives. In addition, he has visited the Evergreen Cooperatives in Cleveland Ohio.
Sequane is the co-founder of Prim Lawrence Group a community economic development and real estate finance consulting firm founded in 1992. He is the founder and president of the Center for Strategic Investment in Youth and Families, a best practice research and action-centered community development institution. Sequane holds a Masters of Science degree in Community Economic Development from New Hampshire College and is an adjunct professor at the University of Illinois.
